AI Prompts Vinted by Garment: dresses, jeans, trainers, bags & more 👗

A universal prompt gives a universal description — so generic. Here are 12 specialist prompts, one per category, with the measurements and vocabulary your category actually requires.

AI Prompts Vinted by garment category: dress, jeans, trainers, coat, bag — descriptions generated with ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude

You already have your ChatGPT prompts for your listings, and they work. Then you find your pair of trainers, a bag, a bundle of kids clothes — and the result sounds thin. Of course: a universal description can't contain the information that decides the purchase, because that information changes per category.

On jeans, it's the flat waistband. On trainers, it's the insole length in centimetres. On a vintage piece, it's the warning that the label size no longer means anything. Here are 12 specialist prompts — one per item family — ready to use with ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude, whether you're listing on Vinted, Poshmark, Depop or Mercari.

Why a generic prompt falls flat

The problem isn't AI, it's what you feed it

An AI assistant doesn't see your garment. It only has your text. If you write 'Zara dress size M in very good condition', it can only produce a variation on that same sentence — longer, prettier, but just as empty. Worse: to fill the void, it pads with the plausible. A guessed fabric, an invented size match, a 'true to size' nobody checked.

That's exactly where it gets risky. An inaccurate description costs more than a sale: it costs a return, a dispute, a poor review.

❌ Generic prompt
  • 'Beautiful dress in very good condition, size M'
  • No flat measurements: endless messages
  • Interchangeable vocabulary from listing to listing
  • Defects disappear from the text
  • AI fills the gaps by guessing
✅ Prompt by category
  • The 3 measurements your category demands, every time
  • The vocabulary buyers actually search for
  • Defects described, located, owned
  • [TO COMPLETE] instead of an invention
  • A suggested title included

The difference between the two columns doesn't come from a longer prompt. It comes from two instructions that every prompt below shares: the list of data to provide for this specific category, and the rule 'invent nothing, write [TO COMPLETE]'. That second rule is what turns the assistant into an assistant — instead of a plausibility engine.

2

The item sheet: the block to paste before everything

Two minutes that work ten times over

Every prompt in this article starts from the same foundation. Fill it once per item, keep it to hand: you'll use it for the title, for answering messages, and for following up with a buyer who's favourited your item.

Base

The item sheet (paste before each prompt)

The foundation. Fill it once, use it everywhere.

ITEM SHEET - Type: [DRESS / JEANS / TRAINERS / …] - Brand: [BRAND or "no brand"] - Label size: [SIZE] - Flat measurements (cm): [see the prompt for my category] - Fabric (copied from label): [e.g. 80% cotton, 20% polyester] - Exact colour: [e.g. navy blue, not "blue"] - Condition: [new with tag / new without tag / very good / good / fair] - Real defects: [NONE, or: what, where, size] - Origin: [bought new in [YEAR] / secondhand / unknown] - Authenticity proof: [receipt / card / none] - Price asked: [X] €

The habit to build

Measure flat, garment laid without tension, soft tape measure. Write the numbers straight into your phone as you photograph: that's the only moment you have the item in hand. Looking for measurements three days later is what kills the method.

Measurements to take, by category

Top / dress: shoulders, chest flat, full length
Jeans / trousers: waist flat, rise, inseam
Skirt: waist flat, length, hem circumference
Coat: shoulders, chest, sleeve length
Trainers: EU size + insole length in cm
Bag: width × height × depth, strap
Kids: height in cm AND age on label
Vintage: all measurements, label size means nothing
3

Dresses, skirts & jumpsuits

Cut, drape, occasion

This is where the buyer projects herself. She wants to know if the dress drapes like in the photo, if it's lined, if it works for the office or just evenings. Three measurements are enough — shoulders, chest flat, full length — but they have to be there.

Dresses

Dress, skirt & jumpsuit

Cut, drape, occasion: what makes you click on a dress.

You're an experienced seller on Vinted. Write the description of a DRESS (or skirt / jumpsuit) based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Flat measurements: shoulders [X] cm · chest [X] cm · full length [X] cm + Cut: [straight / fit and flare / fitted / wrap / A-line] + Length: [mini / midi / maxi] + Lining: [yes / no] · Closure: [back zip / buttons / elastic] + Occasion: [everyday / office / wedding / evening / holiday] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING. Any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]' — never a guess. 2. Don't compare my label size to another brand, and never write 'true to size': give measurements, let the buyer decide. 3. No authenticity claims if the sheet says 'none' for proof. 4. 120 words maximum, 2 emojis maximum, zero empty superlatives. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - An opening line that describes the style, not the emotion. - The garment: fabric, cut, drape, lining. - Flat measurements listed as given. - Condition and defects, simply worded. - A shipping line (careful, within 24 working hours if true). THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters each, each composed of: brand + type + length or cut + size.

Note rule 2 of the prompt: you forbid the AI from writing 'true to size'. That's a phrase everyone copies and nobody can verify — body shapes vary from brand to brand and year to year. Centimetres don't lie.

Selling the same dress on Poshmark instead of Vinted? The measurements don't change, but the conventions do: tag status (NWT/NWOT) up front, and a bundle line if you're clearing out a closet.

Poshmark

Dress, for a Poshmark listing

Same sheet, Poshmark conventions: tag status, bundle, home disclosure.

You're an experienced seller on Poshmark. Write the listing description of a DRESS based on the sheet below, using Poshmark conventions. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Flat measurements: shoulders [X] cm · chest [X] cm · full length [X] cm + Cut: [straight / fit and flare / fitted / wrap / A-line] + Tag status: [NWT (new with tags) / NWOT (new without tags) / pre-loved] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING. Any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. State the tag status in the opening line — Poshmark buyers filter listings by NWT/NWOT/pre-loved. 3. Mention 'smoke-free, pet-free home' only if actually true: a standard Poshmark trust signal, never assume it. 4. Add one line inviting reasonable offers and mentioning a bundle discount if you sell multiple pieces. 5. 120 words maximum, zero empty superlatives. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Opening line: tag status + brand + size. - The garment: fabric, cut, drape, lining. - Flat measurements listed as given. - Condition and defects, simply worded. - Bundle/offer line + shipping note. THEN suggest 3 Poshmark titles under 60 characters, brand first, size and tag status included.

4

Jeans & trousers

The category where missing measurements kill sales

Jeans are the most-returned secondhand item, and the cause is almost always the same: a size announced as W29 or 38, with no actual waistband measurement. Four measurements solve it for good: flat waist, rise, inseam, hem width.

Jeans

Jeans & trousers

The category where missing measurements kill sales.

You're an experienced seller on Vinted. Write the description of JEANS (or trousers) based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Flat measurements (cm): waist [X] (flat, multiply by 2) · rise [X] · inseam [X] · hem width [X] + Cut: [mom / slim / straight / bootcut / wide / flare / cargo] + High / mid / low rise: [X] + Stretch: [yes / no] · Wash: [raw / light / medium / black denim] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. Specify that the waist measurement is taken FLAT (mistake no. 1 for buyers). 3. Don't claim it 'runs big' or 'runs small': that's not verifiable, stick to centimetres. 4. 110 words maximum, direct tone, 2 emojis maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: cut + wash in one sentence. - The 4 measurements, in list, each on its own line. - Fabric and comfort (stretch or not, denim weight). - Condition: hems, inseam, knees, crotch — the 4 wear zones on jeans. - Shipping. THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters: brand + cut + size + wash.

Always specify 'flat'

A waist of 38 cm measured flat equals 76 cm of actual waist circumference. If you write just 'size 38', some buyers will think 'size 38 European'. Write consistently: '38 cm flat, so 76 cm actual waist' — the prompt does this for you.

The same jeans, listed on Poshmark: the measurements stay identical, only the framing changes.

Poshmark

Jeans, for a Poshmark listing

Same sheet, Poshmark conventions: tag status, bundle, home disclosure.

You're an experienced seller on Poshmark. Write the listing description of JEANS (or trousers) based on the sheet below, using Poshmark conventions. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Flat measurements (cm): waist [X] (flat, multiply by 2) · rise [X] · inseam [X] · hem width [X] + Cut: [mom / slim / straight / bootcut / wide / flare / cargo] + Tag status: [NWT (new with tags) / NWOT (new without tags) / pre-loved] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. State the tag status in the opening line, then specify the waist is measured FLAT. 3. Mention 'smoke-free, pet-free home' only if actually true — never assume it. 4. Add one line inviting reasonable offers and a bundle discount for multiple pieces. 5. 110 words maximum, direct tone. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Opening line: tag status + brand + cut + wash. - The 4 measurements, in list, each on its own line. - Fabric and comfort (stretch or not, denim weight). - Condition: hems, inseam, knees, crotch. - Bundle/offer line + shipping note. THEN suggest 3 Poshmark titles under 60 characters: brand + cut + size + tag status.

Trainers & shoes

One reliable measurement: insole length

A size 41 isn't a size 41 across brands — the gap easily reaches a full size. The insole length in centimetres is the only data that lets the buyer compare to a pair she already owns. It's also the measurement most often missing from listings.

Shoes

Trainers & shoes

Insole length in cm: the info that prevents returns.

You're an experienced seller on Vinted. Write the description of a pair of TRAINERS (or shoes) based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Size marked: [EU X] · Insole length: [X] cm + Exact model: [e.g. 'model stated on inner label: …'] + Worn: [never / a few times / regularly] + Condition details: outer sole [X] · heel [X] · upper [X] · inside [X] + Supplied with: [original box / spare laces / nothing] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. Highlight the insole length: sizes vary from brand to brand, this is the only reliable measurement. 3. NEVER claim the model is authentic if the sheet has no proof. Neutral wording allowed: 'bought in [YEAR] from [RETAILER]', only if true. 4. Describe wear zone by zone, without glossing over it. If the soles have yellowed, say so. 5. 110 words maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: model + colour + use (city, running, everyday). - Size + insole length in cm. - Condition by zone (sole, heel, upper, inside). - What's included (box, spare laces). - Shipping and packaging. THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters: brand + model + size + colour.

Second feature of this category: authenticity. The prompt explicitly forbids the AI from claiming a model is authentic. It doesn't know, and neither do you if you don't have a receipt. The allowed wording is factual: 'bought in 2023 from [retailer]' — and only if it's true. On the broader question of platform rules, our article on moderation of AI photos on Vinted details what triggers a check.

Sneaker resale leans heavily on Poshmark and Mercari too — same insole-length logic, different vocabulary:

Poshmark

Trainers, for a Poshmark listing

Same sheet, Poshmark conventions — works just as well on Mercari.

You're an experienced seller on Poshmark. Write the listing description of a pair of TRAINERS based on the sheet below, using Poshmark conventions. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Size marked: [EU/US X] · Insole length: [X] cm + Tag status: [NWT (new with tags, box included) / NWOT / pre-loved] + Condition details: outer sole [X] · heel [X] · upper [X] · inside [X] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. State the tag status in the opening line and give both EU and US sizing if you know it — buyers compare across brands and sizing runs differently. 3. NEVER claim the model is authentic without proof. Neutral wording allowed: 'bought in [YEAR] from [RETAILER]', only if true. 4. Mention 'smoke-free, pet-free home' only if actually true. 5. 110 words maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Opening line: tag status + model + colour + size (EU/US). - Insole length in cm + condition by zone. - What's included (box, spare laces). - Bundle/offer line + shipping note. THEN suggest 3 Poshmark titles under 60 characters: brand + model + size + tag status.

6

Coats, jackets & knitwear

The composition, word for word

Here, the buyer buys a fabric before a cut. 'In wool' and '30% wool' don't tell the same story, and the second is the only honest one if that's what the label says. The prompt forces you to copy the composition exactly.

Coats

Coat, jacket & knitwear

Fabric and actual warmth: the trio of shoulders / chest / sleeve.

You're an experienced seller on Vinted. Write the description of a COAT, a JACKET or a KNIT jumper based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Flat measurements (cm): shoulders [X] · chest [X] · back length [X] · sleeve [X] + Exact composition (label): [e.g. 70% wool, 30% polyamide] + Lining: [yes / no] · Pockets: [X] · Closure: [buttons / zip / belt] + Actual season: [mid-season / cold weather / indoors] + Care: [machine wash 30° / hand wash / dry clean] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. Don't promise an unverifiable warmth level: describe the fabric and weight, not 'ultra warm'. 3. On knitwear, explicitly mention the condition of bobbling and cuff edges — it's the first question asked. 4. Copy the composition exactly: '70% wool' is not 'wool'. 5. 120 words maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: type of piece + fabric + season. - Composition and care. - The 4 flat measurements. - Condition: bobbling, cuff edges, lining, buttons, closure. - Shipping (note if the item is bulky). THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters: brand + type + fabric + size.

🧶The detail that sells a jumper

On knitwear, the first question in messages is always: 'does it bobble?'. Answer it in the listing, before the question even lands, and you skip a round of messages and doubt. The prompt enforces this; you just say the truth.

7

Bags & accessories

Dimensions, inside, caution

A bag sells on three things: its actual dimensions (does a laptop fit?), the condition of its hardware and the condition of its lining. The lining is what sellers photograph least and buyers dread most.

Accessories

Bag & accessories

Dimensions, hardware, lining — and caution about the brand.

You're an experienced seller on Vinted. Write the description of a BAG (or accessory: belt, scarf, costume jewellery) based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Dimensions (cm): width [X] × height [X] × depth [X] + Strap / shoulder strap: [length, adjustable or not, removable or not] + Fabric: [leather / faux / canvas / nylon] · Lining: [condition, stains if any] + Hardware: [gold / silver] · Condition: [scratches, oxidation] + Supplied with: [dustbag / card / receipt / nothing] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. NO authenticity claims, original value or rarity statements if the sheet has no proof. Describe what's visible, nothing more. 3. Don't write 'leather' if the sheet says 'faux'. 4. Describe the inside: that's where stains hide, and that's what the buyer dreads. 5. 110 words maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: bag type + fabric + use (everyday, work, evening). - Complete dimensions + strap. - Exterior: corners, base, hardware. - Interior: lining, pockets, any odour. - What's included + shipping. THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters: brand (if sure) + type + colour + fabric.

Brands and authenticity: the protecting rule

No AI assistant can authenticate an item. Ask it to describe what's visible, never to conclude. If you have no receipt, card or proof of purchase, describe the piece without claiming its origin — it's also what protects you if there's a dispute. You control your listings: check the platform's current rules before publishing.

8

Kids, baby & bundles

Detail each piece, always

The kids section sells in bundles, and a vague bundle doesn't sell. 'Bundle of 5 pieces age 2' says nothing: five worn bodysuits and five near-new branded pieces carry the same title. The prompt forces the detail piece by piece.

Kids

Kids, baby & bundles

Height in cm AND age, number of pieces, condition after washing.

You're an experienced Vinted seller, kids section. Write the description of a KIDS ITEM or BUNDLE based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Size: [X] cm / [X] months / [X] years (note both if the label gives both) + Number of pieces (if bundle): [X] · Detail: [piece by piece list] + Season: [summer / winter / mid-season] + Estimated washes: [few / several / many] + Condition piece by piece (if bundle): [X] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. On a bundle, detail EVERY piece: type, colour, brand, condition. A vague bundle doesn't sell. 3. Mention the number of washes: on kids' clothes, the buyer anticipates fading and bobbling. 4. Don't downplay any stain: describe it (size, location, whether it comes out in washing). 5. 130 words maximum for a bundle, 90 for a single piece. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: what the bundle contains (or the piece) + size + season. - List of pieces, one per line, with brand and condition. - Overall condition and washes. - What justifies the bundle price (number of pieces, brands). - Combined shipping. THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters: 'Bundle X pieces' + size + season + main brand.

Another quirk: height in centimetres plus age. A 24 months and an 86 cm don't overlap across brands, and parents often buy ahead for the next season. Giving both cuts your messages in half.

9

Vintage & secondhand

The label size means nothing anymore

A size 40 from the 1980s isn't a size 40 today. In vintage, measurements aren't a bonus, they're the listing. The prompt demands five and forces an explicit warning on size matching.

Vintage

Vintage & secondhand

Here, the label size means nothing. Measurements do everything.

You're an experienced vintage and secondhand seller on Vinted. Write the description of a VINTAGE PIECE based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + All flat measurements (cm): shoulders [X] · chest [X] · waist [X] · length [X] · sleeve [X] + Estimated era: [e.g. 'circa 1990s style'] · Certainty: [dated by label / estimation only] + Label: [legible / faded / missing] + Fabric estimated or stated: [X] + Signs of wear: [discoloration, alterations, re-hemmed hems, storage odour] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. On dating, stay cautious: write 'circa 1990s style' not 'authentic 1990s piece', unless the sheet proves otherwise. 3. Explicitly remind that vintage sizes don't match today's sizes and invite reliance on measurements. 4. Signs of wear are part of the charm: describe them frankly, without apologising or hiding them. 5. 130 words maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: piece type + style + fabric. - Size warning + all flat measurements. - What the piece tells (era cut, details, buttons, label). - Real condition, wear included. - Shipping. THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters containing 'vintage', the type, the colour and a key measurement.

🕰️Dating: the cautious phrase

Write 'circa 1990s style' rather than 'authentic 1990s piece', unless the label proves it. The first describes an aesthetic — unverifiable but honest. The second is a factual claim, and a wrong factual claim can fuel a dispute. The prompt applies this distinction by itself.

10

Sport & technical wear

Quote the brand's promises, not your own

Sportswear has its own vocabulary — membrane, compression, breathability — and it's slippery ground. The best practice boils down to one sentence: never claim a technical performance yourself. Credit the brand, using the label.

Sport

Sport & technical wear

Technicality, compression, hygiene: a vocabulary of its own.

You're an experienced Vinted seller, sports section. Write the description of SPORTS WEAR or TECHNICAL GARMENT based on the sheet below. [PASTE YOUR ITEM SHEET HERE] + Discipline: [running / yoga / hiking / skiing / fitness / football] + Technology claimed on label: [e.g. waterproof, breathable, compression, UV-protective] + Flat measurements (cm): [chest / waist / length / inseam depending on the piece] + Cut: [fitted / compression / loose] + Technical condition: [elasticity intact? seams? closures? membrane?] RULES 1. Invent NOTHING: any missing data becomes '[TO COMPLETE]'. 2. State a technical claim ONLY if it's on the label, and credit the brand: 'claimed waterproof by the brand' rather than 'waterproof'. 3. Note the condition of elasticity and seams: that's what wears first on sports gear. 4. Mention care (washed after each use, air dried) if it's true: it reassures on hygiene. 5. 110 words maximum. EXPECTED STRUCTURE - Hook: piece + discipline + cut. - Technologies claimed, attributed to the brand. - Flat measurements. - Technical condition (elasticity, seams, zips, membrane). - Care and shipping. THEN suggest 3 titles under 60 characters: brand + type + discipline + size.

11

The condition prompt (the one you skip)

The most profitable long-term

It's the prompt you don't want to use, and it's the one that pays back the most. A precise defect description (what, where, size, visible when worn or not) turns a potential dispute into an informed purchase. It also saves you proving good faith afterwards.

Transparency

The condition paragraph

The most profitable long-term: fewer disputes, more 5-star reviews.

You're an honest seller on Vinted. Write ONLY the 'condition and defects' paragraph of my listing. REAL DEFECTS - Defect 1: [what] · [exactly where] · [size in cm] · [visible when worn? yes / no] - Defect 2: [same] - Areas checked for defects: [e.g. seams, hems, closure, underarms] RULES 1. Describe each defect with its location and size. No 'small defect': 'hole 2mm under left armpit'. 2. Don't minimise, don't dramatise. Neutral, factual tone. 3. End with a list of areas checked without defects: it proves the inspection was thorough. 4. Add a line inviting the buyer to ask for extra photos of a specific defect. 5. 70 words maximum, no emojis.

The list of checked areas

The last rule of the prompt is most underestimated: end with a list of areas checked without defects (seams, hems, underarms, closure). It costs nothing to write and shifts how the listing reads: you're not a seller admitting a defect, but a seller who inspected her piece.

Title

Optimised titles (bonus)

One title per category, with words buyers actually search.

Suggest 8 Vinted listing titles for this item, ranked from most searched to most specific. Item: [TYPE] · [BRAND] · [SIZE] · [COLOUR] · [FABRIC] · [CUT / MODEL] Category: [dress / jeans / trainers / coat / bag / kids / vintage / sport] RULES - 60 characters maximum per title, brand first when known. - No wasted words: no 'lovely', 'stunning', no decorative punctuation. - Integrate the vocabulary specific to the category (e.g. 'mom jeans', 'midi dress', 'sleeveless puffer'). - Invent no model names: if unsure, stick to generic. - For each title, note in parentheses the search intent it targets.

Proofreading

The proofreading pass

Run after drafting: cut the fat and catch invented details.

Here's my Vinted listing description and item sheet. [PASTE THE DESCRIPTION] [PASTE THE ITEM SHEET] Do 3 things, in this order: 1. CHECK — List every piece of information in the description that is NOT in my sheet (so potentially invented). Quote it word for word. 2. CUT — Rewrite the description removing superlatives and hollow phrases, without losing a single factual detail. Goal: 20% shorter. 3. SCAN — Suggest a bullet-point version, scannable in 5 seconds on mobile. Add no new information.

What about photos?

The limit text prompts won't cross

None of these prompts will fix a photo problem. A general assistant asked to generate an image of your garment will reinvent it: a different cut, an approximate print, a colour that shifts. For a listing, that's the worst case — the item received must match the photo posted. We covered why in our article on generating a garment photo by AI.

The reliable way is the opposite: start with your flat photo and generate the worn version while preserving the real garment. That's what a specialist AI photo studio does — no prompt to write. The principle is explained on our page Vinted photos by AI, and pricing is detailed on the plans page, with 3 free photos when you sign up to test on your own pieces.

🎯The combination that works

  • The text: these prompts, with your item sheet and real measurements.
  • The title: the bonus prompt, category by category.
  • The photo: your flat photo + a specialist AI studio for the worn version faithful to your item.
  • The proofread: the verification pass to catch what the AI might invent.

These 12 prompts cover most of a wardrobe. For universal models — negotiation, customer service, follow-ups — they're in our article 15+ ChatGPT Prompts for Vinted. And if you're still unsure which assistant to use, our ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude comparison for selling on Vinted settles it task by task.

FAQ: AI Prompts by Garment Category

Because the information that decides the purchase isn't the same. On jeans, it's the flat waistband and rise; on trainers, it's the inner sole length in centimetres; on a bag, it's the dimensions and lining condition. A generic prompt produces a correct description but systematically forgets the data your buyer is looking for — so endless messages or no sale at all.
They work with all three. They're written in explicit blocks (item sheet, rules, output format), which is exactly what all assistants follow best. Depending on the assistant, you'll get a slightly different tone — more commercial with ChatGPT, more sober with Claude, more concise with Gemini. Our comparison of AI assistants for Vinted details which to use for which task.
Yes, and it's actually the most profitable point of the method. The AI doesn't see your garment: if you don't provide measurements, either it omits them or risks inventing a size match. The prompts below all contain a rule 'invent nothing, write [TO COMPLETE]' precisely for this. Measure once, flat, to the centimetre — then reuse the same figures everywhere.
No, and you absolutely shouldn't ask it to. An assistant can't authenticate an item it has never seen. Every prompt in this article contains an explicit rule: no authenticity claims unless you have proof yourself (receipt, card, original dustbag) and you mention it. An unfounded authenticity claim is the best way to attract a dispute.
The longest part is the item sheet: two minutes of measurements and observation the first time, then about thirty seconds per item once you get the hang of it. The generation itself is almost instant. The beauty of the system is that the sheet also serves for the title, for answering questions, and for following up with an undecided buyer.
Nothing suggests that a description written with AI help is a problem in itself — it's text that you validate and publish. What's a problem is an inaccurate description: wrong size, hidden defect, brand wrongly claimed. You stay in control of your listings: proofread, correct, and check the platform's current rules, which can change.
Always, at least one pass. Three reflexes: remove superlatives that mean nothing ('incredible piece'), check every figure against your sheet, and reword one sentence in your own voice. A description that sounds exactly like the other 40 in the same category loses its edge — and it's your voice that reassures.
Yes, the structure is the same everywhere: factual item sheet + rules + format. Adapt three things in the prompt — the length (Depop and Mercari tolerate shorter, Adverts.ie more descriptive), the vocabulary (Poshmark buyers search for 'NWT' and 'bundle', Mercari buyers scan for a clear condition tag and 'shipping included'), and the language if you're selling internationally. Add one line 'Also write a French version' at the end of the prompt and you get both at once.
